Pre course tasks

Part 1a) My best piece of creative work prior to this course

This is a marble delivery robot which myself and a team had to design and build last year as an engineering project. This is my best piece of creative work not due to the drawing aspect but rather because of the various design challenges in which had to be overcome to reach the final design. Although this project is not creative in the conventional sense I believe its' creativity lies in its uniqueness when compared to 90% of the other projects which were made using a toy car.

Part 1b) An image of a great piece of architecture

This is the Burj Al Arab [“The tower of the Arabs”]  located 300 meters off the shore of Dubai. This structure was inspired by the shape of the sails of the dhow [the traditional Arabian sailing boat]. I have selected this structure because it pushes the bounds of architectural design whilst still keeping a connection with both the environment and the older traditions of  ancient Dubai.

Part 1c) Original photograph of something beautiful

This photo was taken on new years eve 2012 in Sydney. Something interesting about this photo is that it was originally taken upside down.

Part 2) Works of art from each client

STELARC: DEPENDANT, INTEGRATED, BIONIC

AI WEIWEI: ELEGANT, ROTATING, INTENSE
