This task involved:
- A group task to come up with 36 words that describe the possible cross-sections of various materials.
- Draw material textures based on the words developed in the previous task, and group them according to Above Ground, Ground or Underground.

- Implement the custom textures into our google sketch up models.
Below are the material textures for the above ground space
The image above is a view used to show some of the custom textures used in the gallery space. I have used the warped texture for the sides of this space as it gives a 2D surface more depth,I have also used the brittle texture for every second step in the staircase to give the staircase a varied linear feel.
Below are the material textures for the ground space
The image above is a view used to show some of the custom textures in the above living space. I have used the bubble texture as it gives a sense of airlessness to it whilst the scratched surface of the platform is used to create a contrast of outside and inside walking spaces.
Below are the material textures for the underground space
The image above is a view used to show some of the custom textures in the below living space the curved roof has a cubic texture used to create an interesting interface between the roof with square textures and the circular intruding eye-like structures.
The purple texture is the layered texture this has been implemented to show a development from the 2D cubic texture to its 3D equivalence.
